CARTAGENA DE INDIAS CONVENTION CENTER,

THE FIRST IN SOUTHAMERICA WITH A SOLAR ROOF

By installing 1.656 photovoltaic modules on our roof, at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center we will be able to generate our own clean energy and achieve greater efficiency during operations.

SOLAR POWER HAS ARRIVED AT THE CARTAGENA DE INDIAS CONVENTION CENTER

As a result of a strategic alliance between Grupo Heroica S.A.S., the venue’s operator since 2010, and Celsia, a leading unconventional renewable energy company in Colombia, the CCCI has made a great bet for sustainability and improving our energy efficiency on site.

With the installation of 1.656 photovoltaic modules, also know as solar panels, we have an installed capacity of 444.14 kWp equivalent to generating 514.165 kWh per year, supplying 18% or the energy we consume at CCCI on a yearly basis.

Installed during three stages, this panel system occupies a 2,743 sqm area distributed mainly on top of the Gran Salón Barahona and Auditorio Getsemaní. With this technology, we became the first convention center in South America to generate clean energy, reducing our CO2 emissions by 188.6 tons, which amounts to planting more than 31,200 mature trees every year.

“This project reaffirms our commitment to promoting the Meetings Industry by managing a sustainable enclosure, with high environmental awareness and having a positive impact on the city and region where we operate”.
